photography is poetry

I believe photography should tell a story, but not all photography is done for some grand occasion, like a wedding. Most photography is done simply because you want to capture that moment in time- whether that's a certain age, certain people, or a certain place. As life goes on, we tend to forget about those seemingly insignificant moments if they're not captured or saved. We forget how we felt, what we looked like, and what was important to us during that time. That's where photography comes in. That's where I come in.
Prompts, not poses.
This ain't your 1999 Sears photoshoot (but we can do one if you want). I believe in taking real photos. Your hair was a mess because your partner attacked you with kisses? Love it. Your kid got a little dirty while playing outside before your shoot? EVEN BETTER. The laughs, the silly faces- I love bringing the raw and real moments into the light. They're not imperfections, they're us. They're the proof that we're human and they deserve to be seen just as much, if not more, as a neat, perfect smile does!

Meet the Photographer
hi, i'm carissa
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm really glad you're here. And I promise I won't wear this outfit to your event. My style is a little moody, so if you're here for that bright & airy style, I'm afraid you've stumbled into the wrong place.
If you're looking for a photographer who:
- thinks outside of the box
- is willing to try new things (like stand on ladders to get the perfect shot)
- is maybe a little weird
then I may be the one for you.
I hope you choose to join me in capturing you and your loved ones on this wild adventure we call life.
I've been doing photography for 10+ years now and I fall a little more in love with it every time I step behind the camera. Let's work together to make that vision board of yours come true!

"How wonderful to be who I am, made out of earth and water, my own thoughts, my own fingerprints — all that glorious, temporary stuff."
